The Best Swimming Holes In New Hampshire

Sawyer Rock

Town: Bartlett (Carroll County)

This new swimming hole is a lesser-known gem if you’re looking to ditch the crowds this summer. The rocks are great for jumping as well as sunbathing.

Franconia Falls

Town: Lincoln (Grafton County)

Franconia Falls features multiple swimming holes, natural waterslides, and exposed rock slabs to enjoy on a summer day. The 6.4 miles, nearly flat, round-trip hike starts from the Lincoln Woods trailhead off NH 112, Kancamagus Highway.

Jackson Falls

Town: Jackson (Carroll County)

This is a popular spot for families with small children to visit. Enjoy over 175-feet of slides, pools, and waterfalls in the heart of the White Mountains. There are also some picnic tables found here to eat lunch during your visit.

Emerald Pool

Town: Chatham (Carroll County)

Emerald Pool sits at the base of North & South Baldface mountains, a challenging loop hike featuring plenty of bouldering and panoramic views from both summits. The pool offers relatively safe cliff-jumping opportunities into a pool filled with emerald-green colored water. Accessing the collection requires an easy 0.7-mile hike each way.

Lower Ammonoosuc Falls

Location: Caroll (Coos County)

The sign for the falls is located on the road directly beside Mount Deception Campground. Follow the gravel path from the parking lot that leads straight to the falls. The falls feature a natural waterslide that cascades down into a large calm pool. This is a popular spot to visit during the summer months and can get rather busy, especially during the weekends.
